Scrubber

This machine, manufactured from stainless steel, is specifically designed to remove the skin from a variety of vegetables, e.g. pumpkins. Vegetables are fed in one end and are slowly moved down the length of the machine by an auger, rotating at around 25rpm - the auger is specially sized to suit the vegetable being scrubbed. A number of rollers, covered with stiff brush material, and spinning at high speed (around 700rpm), scrub the skin off the vegetable. Clean water is constantly sprayed over the vegetables by a spray pipe inside the top of the machine - this helps to flush any skin residue off the vegetables and the rollers. This residue drops into a hopper on the underside of the machine. By the time the vegetables reach the outlet chute, they are skinless and clean, ready for the next process.
